Context & Introduction to Zohoor’s film
This perfume brand film was the next big project following Zohoor’s rebrand process (read all about it here). In the lead up to Saudi National Day, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to tell the story of the brand in a way Zohoor had never done before – communicating with its audience who Zohoor really is, how it started and what it stands for.
Zohoor is a Saudi perfume brand that brings together the best of French and Arabian fragrances. Founded in 1991 by two brothers from Al Khobar, KSA, the company grew to over +250 stores across the GCC region. Besides a wide range of off-the-shelf products, they also allow their customers to create their own custom fragrances – making Zohoor the one and only “Home of Mixology” in the Middle East.
Challenges faced
As agencies and clients around the world discovered throughout 2020, producing a large-scale brand video during a pandemic is not exactly a walk in the park.
Special permissions, extra safety precautions, organising the logistics of a large cast and crew – were all hurdles we had to get over in order to make this perfume brand film a reality (and something both we and the client could be proud of).
Another challenge we were faced with was our deadline. We wanted to have the video shot, edited and graded before Saudi National Day without the slightest compromise on quality in regards to our vision for this film. That meant a few late nights, weekends at work and an action-packed shooting schedule to get everything ready.
Our strategy
Despite all the challenges that we encountered, we took on this project with the same passion and ambition as any other. A script was written, rewritten and fine-tuned until approved by the client. A production partner was assigned, models and extras were picked, locations scouted, props and wardrobe were sourced, all in order to create the cinematic masterpiece Zohoor deserved.
All health and safety precautions we taken during the production and during the shoot days for this perfume brand film. Masks, gloves and alcohol-based gel bottles made their presence felt in an unusual but enthusiastic production setting. Several crew members and agency staff were tested, and we’re glad to say, everything went according to plan.
24 hours before the official, widespread launch of film, a private link was shared by email with Zohoor staff and VIP stakeholders, so they could have a first look, recognising their importance and brand advocates.
Results of the perfume brand film
The video was a resounding success, meriting glowing reviews form Zohoor’s management, store staff and even the two founders, who felt the film successfully captured the essence of the brand as well as their personal story.
